Lori Ann Poll Newton

Lori Ann Poll Newton, age 71 of Long Beach, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 17, 2023, at home with her husband and daughters by her side. 

She was born June 19, 1952, in Fort Eustiss, Virginia to Morris Poll Sr. and Margaret Alice Thurston Poll. She was raised in Sayre, PA, and graduated from Sayre High School in 1970. Lori joined the Navy and worked in the Naval Intelligence Service in Naples, Italy where she met her husband, James. She spent many years working in the local school systems as a teacher’s assistant and as a teacher at several daycare centers.  

Lori was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to raising five beautiful and intelligent daughters. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed working out, collecting, puzzling, and reading. She will be missed dearly by her entire family. 

She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Stevi Shea Newton; her parents, Margaret Alice Thurston Poll and Morris Poll Sr.; and her brother, Larry Poll. 

Lori is survived by her husband of 46 years James Newton; her four daughters, Erin Newton Christensen (Justin), Lauren Newton Schneider (Michael), Jamie Newton Hofmann (William), and Kari Newton (Alex Stripe); her six grandchildren, Daimen Christensen, Ethan Schneider, Krista Cavanaugh, Liam Schneider, Abigail Amell, and Grayson Hofmann; her four siblings, Rick Poll (Kathy), Mari Black, Jack Poll (Denise), Morris Poll, and Patti Poll; and many nieces and nephews she loved and had many fond memories of.
