Lonnie Chester Schultz

Lonnie Chester Schultz, age 77, of Bay St. Louis, passed away in Biloxi on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

Lonnie was born on June 13, 1946, in Bay St. Louis to Chester L. Schultz and Louella Culbreth Schultz. He graduated from Bay High class of 1966 and after graduation joined the Navy. After his Navy career, Lonnie moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee but throughout the years he made frequent visits back home to Bay St. Louis so his family could enjoy its beauty. Lonnie was an alumnus of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Criminal Justice. He was a Sheriff's deputy with the State of Tennessee in Hamilton County where he, along with others, started a new and valuable partnership between the Juvenile Court System and the Department of Human Services that paired court officers with social workers when going out to investigate child abuse cases in the 1970's. From 1980-1984, Lonnie worked in public safety and security for The TVA, then later in fraud investigations for the State of Tennessee, and retired as a parole officer in 1996. Lonnie enjoyed painting, drawing, fishing, and golf in his free time.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Louella Schultz, and one brother, Joseph C. Schultz.

He is survived by his children, Becca (Chris) Harper of Sewanee, Tennessee, Matt (Jennifer) Schultz of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Sarah (Matt) Tucker also of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Kelsey( Justin) Ellis, Eliza Belcher, Lauren Skarzinski, Sam, Elijah, Kayla, and Zoie; and his great-grandchildren, Bryler, Wren, Wyatt, Maeve, Maggie and Josie; his brother, Jeffery Schultz of Bay St. Louis and his sister, Dale Schultz St. Amant (Doug) of Pass Christian.

A memorial service for Lonnie will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian, MS 39571.
