Lonnie Jackson Colwell

Lonnie Jackson Colwell, a native of Selana, Kansas, and resident of Biloxi, MS., passed away on September 12, 2026, at his home in Biloxi at the age of 67.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Colwell; his mother, Lucille Brown, his father, William Miller and a granddaughter, Lauren Wood.

He leaves behind to cherish the memories, his children, Steven Colwell (Ember), Christina Causin, Bobby Warrick, Jr., Jeffrey Warrick (Jackie) and Chris Jackson; his siblings, Ernest Miller (Janice), Sherry Ryan (Don), and Billy Miller (Chantel); his grandchildren, Haley, Michael Wood (Blaise), Ariana, Cameron, Wayne, Courtney, Brett Fletcher (Ari), Matthew, Ethan, Evan, Bobby III., Riley, Cassidee and Mason; great grandchildren, Preston Jr., Ezekial, Isaiah, Amelia, Iris Malachi, Tre, Saphira, and Lolana; many beloved nieces and nephews, The Owens Family and a whole coast of close friends who will miss him dearly.

Lonnie worked as a welder at Ingall’s Shipbuilding for 23 years. Throughout different seasons of his life, he also worked alongside the Owens family at their family-owned scrap yard in the Latimer community, where the bonds they formed extended far beyond work and made them FAMILY. Lonnie served many years in the Army National Guard as well.

Lonnie loved playing darts, enjoyed family bonfires, listening to music and watching the strangest movies he could find. He loved telling jokes and seemed to have a special place in his mind reserved just for storing them. Throughout his years of playing darts, Lonnie earned hundreds of awards and plaques and set numerous records. A lasting reflection of his talent, dedication and love for the game.

He was a member of the Gulf Coast Eagles and spent many years off and on as a member of the Mississippi Dart Association as well as the Dixie Dart Association. He was former member of the D’Iberville Moose Lodge.

Lonnie believed life was meant to be filled with laughter, good music, friendly games of darts, and time spent with the people he loved. He always had a joke ready and a way of bringing fun into any room. Yet beneath that lighthearted spirit was a man who carried the worries and burdens of those he loved upon his shoulders. His love for his family ran deep, and their happiness and well-being were always at the heart of everything he did.

Though his absence leaves an emptiness that can never be filled, Lonnie will live in every story retold, every favorite song played, every Dart thrown, and every burst of laughter shared in his memory. The greatest way to honor him is to love deeply, laugh often, turn the music up and never miss an opportunity to sit with family around a bonfire. He often said, “I have a plan- imagine that” and “I’m just one lonely guy, doing the best I can”. Perhaps that is something we can all carry with us; we are each finding our way through life, making our plans, loving our people and simply doing the best we can with the time we are given.

A Gathering celebrating his life will be form 1p.m. until 4:00 p.m, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., West Jackson County.
