Lois Ondell Ladner Weems, age 70, of Long Beach, passed away on September 10, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Otis Ladner, her parents, Leon and Iris Ondell, and a brother, Paul Ondell.
Survivors include her loving husband, Joseph ""Joe"" Weems, 2 daughters, Valerie A. (Dwayne) Thomas and April (Bryan) Nadeau, 4 special grandchildren, Lauren, Jake, Tyler, and Dylan, and her extended family at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School.
Mrs. Weems was a native of Liverpool, England and lived most of her life in Long Beach. She was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a longtime teacher at St. Thomas School. After Hurricane Katrina, Mrs. Weems continued teaching children at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School where she made a tremendous impact on thousands of children and their families. She retired in 2014 after 27 years of teaching. She was honored in 2003 as the Ball Captain of the Carnival Association of Long Beach. Mrs. Weems will always be remembered as a sweet, gentle person with an affectionate smile, soft voice, and a kind and loving spirit.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 9 am - 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Blvd., Long Beach, MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church. Burial will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School.
