Lloyd Richard Ball III, age 63, of Ellisville, MS, passed away on February 4, 2026, in Gulfport, MS.
Richard was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and spent his early years in Ellisville. In junior high school he moved to Gulfport, where he made lasting memories and friendships, before returning to Ellisville to complete his later high-school years. He was a proud graduate of South Jones High School.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Hart Ball, and his father, Dr. Lloyd Richard Ball, II. He is survived by his loving sisters, Teresa Allen (Ball) and Karen Stroud (Ball), as well as his nephew, Carter Allen, who brought tremendous joy into his life.
Richard loved being surrounded by the people he cared about and never hesitated to lend a hand to a friend in need. He had a deep love of history—especially the stories and heritage of Jones County—and took great interest in learning about his own family lineage.
He took pride in his career as a land surveyor, a profession that allowed him to explore and understand landscapes across the country. He delighted in sharing stories from the many places he surveyed, offering them with insight, humor, and a surveyor’s eye for detail. When not with family, friends, or out in the field, Richard enjoyed practicing his draftsmanship, hand drawing various styles of residential floorplans. He also was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and supported them any free moment he had.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Ellisville First Methodist Church, 202 Church Street, Ellisville, MS 39437.
Richard’s genuine loyalty, sharp wittiness, and abundant love will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS, is serving the family.
