Lindy Buchanan

November 19, 1965 — August 23, 2017

Melinda "Lindy" Weems-Buchanan, age 51, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on August 23, 2017. She was born November 19, 1965 at Turner AFB in Albany, Georgia, the daughter of Buell and Jean Weems.
As a child, Lindy began girl scouts. Later, she got into gymnastics and started competing in meets, she even coached at the YMCA. The gymnastic skills she acquired during training stayed with her. She was a woman of many skills and interests, including all things outdoors. She enjoyed taking her kids to the beach and river. She loved to fish and camp with friends and family. Even though she loved the outdoors she also loved many inside activities. She loved to sketch and draw, sew and craft, and loved to watch new sci-fi movies.
Lindy's main passion was her children. She had a nurturing soul and worked hard to raise her children with truth and honesty about the world around them. She encouraged their passions and interests. Always setting aside her own wants for the betterment of her children. After they were grown, with children of their own. She would brag to others about her children's accomplishments all while saying, "I did good!" It seems such a small phrase, but the weight speaks volumes. No sound is sweeter to a child than a parent being proud of them and who they have become.
Her nurturing extended beyond just her children and to all living things. Explaining why she loved to garden. She maintained her plants throughout all seasons and spent a great deal of time outside tending to them. It's safe to say she had a green thumb, which she got from her mother, Jean.
She is preceded in death by her father, Buell "Rip" Weems; her brother, David Weems-Jones; and her mother-in-law, Ruth Buchanan.
She is survived by her children, their spouses and her grandchildren. Her son, Miles Buchanan and his wife Lacey Buchanan, her son, Marcus Buchanan and his fiancé Katie Rhodes, her daughter, Madison Korn and her husband Jeffery Korn, and her son, Westley Dyal, her three granddaughters, Leeanna Buchanan, Sophia and Scarlett Korn, and one grandson, Landon Holder. She is also survived by her mother, Jean Weems; her brothers, Michael Weems and Martin Weems, and sister, Michelle Fountain.
