Lindsey David Porter, age 75, was born on October 25, 1947 in Kentucky. He lost his battle with Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Parkinson’s at the Biloxi MS VA on January 31, 2023.
He enlisted in the United States Navy when he was 18 and had a career in the Navy Seabees for 23 years. He served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Antarctica for several years, which was the highlight of his career. He loved being in the Seabees and it gave him a sense of purpose. He was a proud member of the Shriners, and he loved to clown around. Literally clowning for many occasions; company picnics, schools, restaurants, birthday parties, group functions, and even the Special Olympics. He was also the mall Santa for many years. He loved this aspect of his life so much he continued to clown around as Krackles D Clown for years after his retirement in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lindsey Porter; his mother, Evelyn Rose; step father, Tilma Rose; and sister, June Moody.
David is survived by his wife Sheila Porter; his children, Brian and Sue Porter of Kiln, David and Catherine Porter of Pascagoula, Laura and Bill Schwer of Alger, WA, Tammy Porter of Pascagoula, and Matthew Porter of Kiln; step-children Jenny and Chris Sheppard of Baton Rouge, LA, Johnny and James Lane of Kiln, MS, and Jathan and Laura Lane of Virginia Beach, VA; brothers Daniel and Jaunita Porter of Walton, KY, Dale and Lori Rose of Williamstown, KY, and Tim and Shelly Rose of Burlington, KY. He also had 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
His struggle with disease is finally over and he is no longer tied to this body on earth - He is free.
