Diamondhead, MS

Linda Jo Simmons, a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on July 14, 2025, at her home in Diamondhead, Mississippi, surrounded by her family. Born on December 28, 1946, in Opelousas, Louisiana, Linda's life journey led her through various paths where she left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

A passionate individual, Linda graduated from cosmetology school and embarked on a successful career in fashion and beauty, working for esteemed establishments such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Niemann Marcus, and Chanel. Her creativity and keen eye for aesthetics were reflected in her work, but more importantly, in the way she brightened the lives of those around her. Described as a social butterfly, Linda made it her priority to foster connections and relationships, often putting the needs and joy of her loved ones before her own.

While she began her life in Opelousas, Linda raised her children in Houston, Texas, creating a nurturing environment filled with love and laughter. Eventually, she returned to the South for her retirement in the serene surroundings of Diamondhead, where she continued to share her vibrant spirit. Linda had a deep affinity for spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she cherished moments spent at the lake, kayaking, and embarking on girls’ trips to the beach.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Jimmy Simmons; her two children, Robbie Rayborn (Nicole) and Ted Rayborn; and her beloved grandchildren, Teddi, Isabella, John Robert, and Janae. She also leaves behind two cherished Yorkies, who brought her much joy and companionship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Newton and Ursula Stout, whose guidance and love shaped the extraordinary woman she became.

Linda Jo Simmons will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious enthusiasm for life, and the enormous love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched and the beautiful memories created throughout her remarkable journey.
