It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda “Wendy” Stander Denton on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the age of 70.
Wendy was born on January 12, 1955, to Robert and Maureen “Bubba” Stander in Champagne, Illinois. The family, including older sister, Mary, soon settled in Lafayette, LA where Wendy grew up surrounded by extensive family and rich culture. Her younger brothers, Bob and Tim, completed the family and remained Wendy’s closest friends throughout her life.
Both sharp-minded and strikingly beautiful, Wendy made a lasting impression on everyone she met. From Lafayette to California to Maine, she traveled frequently and found friends easily. She made it her mission to ensure that her children experienced the world she so loved with long, adventurous road trips to the family camp in Maine, summer days on Florida beaches, afternoons spent cooking traditional meals, and evenings surrounded by family photos and keepsakes to remind them of their heritage. Her home was a gathering place where her many friends and family would always find a bowl of food, hungry or not, and a competitive game of cards on the back porch. Inspired by her father’s love of music and her mother’s eye for antiques, Wendy could often be found scouring antique booths or searching for a moving piece of music from a loved film, her finds filling her home with beauty and interest.
Family was always at the core of Wendy’s life and she took great pride in the successes of her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind her beloved longtime partner, David Hart; her children Brooke Jones (James), Katy Bomar (Daniel), and Jonathan Denton (Jennifer) with ex-husband and friend, John Denton; her siblings, Mary Stander and Bob Stander (Donna); her grandchildren who will miss their “Sticker”, Analeigh McGinley, Ella Jones, Charlotte Bomar, Andrew Jones, Grey Bomar, and Henry Denton; her great-granddaughter, Wrenleigh McGinley; her beloved aunt, Joan Brousard; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who were part of her large and lively family. Wendy will be remembered for her strong presence and momentum, and she will live on in the family she built and the many lives made richer by her presence.
Services are being planned and will be announced once finalized.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, West Jackson County, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
