Lillian Pujol Ferguson
September 1, 1932 – December 2, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Lillian Ferguson also known as Mawmaw, who departed this world on December 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories. Born on September 1, 1932 in DeLisle, she was a lifelong resident of her beloved MS Gulf Coast living her adult life between Long Beach and Lizana. She was the cornerstone of our family and a beacon of selfless devotion. Her life revolved around doing for her family.
Lillian was more than a grandmother; she was our confidante, cheerleader, and the heart of every family gathering. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her children and grandchildren were the hallmarks of a life well-lived. She dedicated her days to nurturing her family, always putting others before herself and finding joy in their happiness.
She was known for always having food ready for any visitor or someone in need, because no child of God was a stranger to her and her family. She was the master of the black iron skillet cooking the best gumbo, fried green tomatoes, salmon cakes, biscuits and more. Every Sunday after church, she lovingly prepared and served meals for family gatherings, creating a cherished tradition of togetherness and love that brought everyone closer. She was a constant source of support and a guiding hand for anyone in need, instilling in her grandchildren the values of hard work and responsibility while lovingly caring for them as her adult children pursued their careers. She loved to dance and did professional ballroom dancing up until her mid-70s. She never met a stranger and socialized up until the day she could no longer. She dedicated her days to nurturing her family, always placing God first in her life and putting others before herself and finding joy in their happiness. All of her grandbabies always giggled with joy when they heard, "I love you more than a trunkful of monkeys." Her love knew no bounds, and her presence was a gift we will forever treasure. We are all better individuals because of Lillian's shining example, reflected in her selfless actions and unwavering love. We honor her legacy with gratitude as she is called home to be with God.
Lillian is survived by her children, Lora Alena Thomas, Donna and her husband Pete Kreger, Bennetta Dauro, Toxie and his wife Sandy Ferguson, Timmy Ferguson; her grandchildren who brought her immense joy, Scott Thomas, Nicole Allen with her husband Dorman along with her children Ryan and Katie, Melanie Ferguson along with her son Bailey, Michelle Dauro, Lee and his wife Pam Ferguson along with their children Edan, Kerrington and July, Michael and his wife Sarah Dauro along with their children Grace, Caroline and Vivienne, Rachael and her husband Chris Thomason along with their children Graysen, Colten and baby Benjamin on the way, Stephanie Ferguson and her son James, Dustin Ferguson, Garret Ferguson, Madison and Hailey Boudreaux; her great-great grandchild Skylee Arnold and countless other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Lillian was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Toxie Conrad Ferguson Sr. who called her "his babe", an infant child Ted Ferguson, her parents, Alfred Pujol and Alena Pavolini Pujol Carvin; her step father Pete Carvin, sister, Florence Harshbarger, brothers, Joe Pujol, Alfred Pujol, and Clarence Pujol. Brother-in-law Lewis “Pete” Harshbarger.
The family would like to show our gratitude to Debbie Tankerslee who was more than a caregiver. Debbie was her best friend and she loved spending time with her for the past couple of years. We’d like to also thank Memorial Hospital and Deaconess Hospice for the care they provided Lillian in her final days.
Her family invites all who loved her to celebrate her life during a visitation at Riemann’s Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Rd on Friday, 6 Dec from 6-8pm and Saturday, 7 Dec at 10am with Christian service at 11am. The graveside burial will follow at DeLisle Cemetery on Ball Park Rd.
Mawmaw, your love will continue to guide us, and your memory will live on in every heart you touched. We are so grateful for the beautiful life you shared with us and we will always love you more than a trunkful of monkeys.
Rest in peace, dearest Lillian. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
