Leta Joyce Fayard, age 80, of Metairie and formerly of Gulfport, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2014, with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Fayard was born to William Henry and Frances Scaffino Fayard and was reared in Gulfport. She graduated from St. John High School in Gulfport and attended Ursuline College in New Orleans. She was former co-owner of Fayard Moving and Transportation. She was an active associate member of the Sisters of Mercy. She loved line dancing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hug; her parents; her granddaughter, Renee Vidrine; her great grandson, Aiden Vidrine; her siblings, Bernadette Hansen, Dorothy Smith, W.H. Fayard, Jr., A.C. Fayard, Edward Fayard, Charles ""Mackie"" Fayard, and Johnny Fayard, Sr.
She is survived by children Fran Vidrine of Gulfport, Michael Blake (Mona) of Metairie, Kim North (Brett) of Metairie, and Robert Blake (Tanya) of Metairie; grandchildren, Howard Vidrine, IV, Alisa Blake Dobornich, Michael ""Beau"" Blake, Jr. (Cherie), Ashley Davidson, Allison Davidson, Mia Blake, and Bella Blake; and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014, at Lakelawn Funeral Home, Metairie, LA, from 5pm-8pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Gulfport, MS, at 11am, where friends may visit one hour prior.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, 6024 Freret Street, New Orleans, LA 70118.
