Leslie E. Cuevas

August 26, 1946 — September 23, 2025

Gulfport,MS

Leslie Cuevas, age 79, of Gulfport, Mississippi, went home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised in Gulfport, Leslie lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to those he loved most. After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, he built a career with Irby Steel and Huntington Ingalls, where he was respected for his dedication and work ethic.

Leslie’s greatest joy, however, was not found in titles or accomplishments, but in the simple and meaningful moments of life. He loved making cast nets, tending to his garden, and listening to his beloved wife, Kathy, sing. Nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by his family, especially cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they played sports. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and steady presence made him a source of comfort and strength to everyone blessed to know him.

He was a man of deep faith and a devoted Catholic, whose life was a reflection of love, humility, and gratitude.

Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Edna Moran Cuevas; his brothers-in-law, Pat Ladner (Paula) and Darryl Ladner (Donna); his mother-in-law Ethelyne Hoda Ladner; and his sister-in-law, Darla Cuevas (Buddy).

He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Kathy Ladner Cuevas; his children, Corey Cuevas, Heath Cuevas, and Cassie Cuevas; his grandchildren, Blake Cuevas (Ashley), Trinity Cuevas Prine (Chris), Courtney Cuevas Edington (James), Caitlin Cuevas, and Margaret Mumford; and his great-grandchildren, Bryson Cuevas, Logan Gates, Dayson Cuevas, Aspyn Cuevas, and Trinley Prine. He is also remembered with love by numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, and other dear relatives, including brother-in-law Mike Ladner (Gail), sisters-in-law Danita Holladay (Rick), and Vanessa Gallagher (Kerry).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, Dedeaux. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Standard Sandhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Mass offerings or donations to St. Ann Lizana Catholic Church.

The Cuevas family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared their love, prayers, and kindness. Leslie will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his faith, and the way he made everyone feel truly cared for. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
