Leon Royle (Roy) Lassus, age 82 died in Gulfport, MS. He was born in New Orleans, LA and lived in Terrytown, LA for 44 years before moving to the Gulf Coast, and was a resident of Diamondhead, MS at the time of his death. While in Terrytown, Roy was a member of the Terrytown 5
th
District Volunteer Fire Department. He graduated from Warren Easton High School and was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Royle Lassus and Frances Duplessis Lassus Serpas; and a daughter, Laurie Lassus Weber. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Naomi (Mimi) Jacomet Lassus; a son, Lenny (Kristin) Lassus; and five grandchildren, Ryan Patrick Lassus, Emily Carol Lassus, Lisa (Alex) Weber Esquivel, Logan Mitchel Weber, and Kayla Frances Weber.
He was a field safety advisor for Mobil Oil Company, Chalmette Refinery. He was an active member of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, MS, where he served as an alter server and extraordinary minister. In 2016, Roy received the "Lumen Christi" Award for the service to St. Rose de Lima Parish.
Roy was also an active member of the Central Hancock Rotary in Diamondhead and the Fin and Feather Club in Diamondhead.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 26, 2018 at 12:30 PM at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church, 301 S. Necaise Avenue, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi with visitation for family and friends from 10:30 AM until the mass at 12:30 PM. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
