Leland Louis Ladner, Sr., age 84, of Gulfport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 16, 2017.
He was born on August 25, 1933 at home in the Fenton/Dedeaux Community to Lovic and Clara Ladner. He was the eldest of six children. Leland served in the US Air Force for 21 years where he was an electronics instructor. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister and Knights of Columbus member. He was a man of deep, abiding faith and shared that faith with others freely, frequently. Leland was committed to Sunday Mass and even as he traveled across the country for work, God always led him quickly and easily to a Catholic church. After his military retirement, he sold cars, operated a shrimp boat, dump trucks, and worked as a truck driver hauling freight across the country. Mr. Ladner also worked with the Gulfport Police Department, Community Services.
Leland was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Emilie Ladner; his parents, brothers Celester Ladner and Jay Ladner; and his sister Marlene Necaise.
Mr. Ladner is survived by his five children; Valerie Malley (George), Sabine Ladner, Leland Ladner, Jr. (Tami), Patrice Torricelli (Damon), and Lovell Ladner (Jennifer); two sisters Carol Sandidge and Bonnie Holliman; ten grandchildren, Pamela Malley Jacobson, Melissa Malley Williams (Sammy), Jonathan Ladner (Jennifer), Jarrod Malley (Cassie), Nicolas Ladner, Ashlyn Torricelli, Zachary Torricelli, Kristina Ladner, L.J. Ladner, and Skylar Ladner; and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to KareMed of Ocean Springs, Notre Dame Hospice, and Brookdale of Biloxi for the loving care given to their father.
