Leila Pennell

Leila Mae """"Nanny"""" Pennell, 91, and a resident of Biloxi, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 in Biloxi. Mrs. Pennell was born in Corinth, MS and has been a resident of the Coast most of her life. She retired from Lee's Beauty Shop in Long Beach after 20 years. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Long Beach, a member of Woolmarket Baptist Church, was a past officer of the Eastern Star, member of the Order of Amaranth, and a former member of the Mississippi Cosmetology Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willace O. Pennell, Sr.; parents, J.W. Carmack and Ida Mae Carmack; sons, Jack and Richard Pennell; daughter, Arlin Dobbins; son-in-law, Timothy Stanley; brothers, J.W. Carmack, Jr. and A.E. """"Buddy"""" Carmack.
Mrs. Pennell is survived by her children, Phyllis Davis (Wayne) of Ocean Springs, Bill Pennell (Susan) of Long Beach, John Pennell of Biloxi, Karen Stanely of Biloxi, Mary Virginia Hawkins of Amory, Martha Nell Paul (Billy) of Alabama; daughter-in-law, Jo Ree Pease (Warren) of Ocean Springs; brother, Paul T. Carmack of Texas; grandchildren, Kirsten Wallis, Kellye Davis, Brent Davis, Trey Pennell, Corey Pennell, John Pennell, Louis Pennell, Robert Pennell, David Pennell, Glen Pennell, Denise Cantrell, Billy Paul, Jill Maddox, Woody Dobbins, and Alan Dobbins; 20 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Woolmarket Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. An Eastern Star service will be at Noon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Handsboro Cemetery in Gulfport.
