God called Larry home to be with Him on the morning of May 7th. Larry was born in Quincy, MA on March 9th, 1942, and made his way to the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a young Airman serving his country with patriotism that burned on throughout his years. He fell in love with life here on the water and became the finest of southern gentlemen; straightforward, honest and always working hard. His passion for the outdoors meant he could be found out in the sun on the weekends, sailing, windsurfing, playing golf or serving up a mean tennis match. Anything he set out to do, he did 100%, including becoming a farmer. He found a lot of peace on an old blue Ford tractor, turning overgrown fields into a fruitful paradise. Larry was not a man to let life just happen; he actively lived every moment and absolutely loved life, family and friends. He was an amazing, loving husband to his ""sweety"" Allison Brown Hinkley; true love is a rare thing, but everyone who knew him also knew the depth of his devotion to her. Larry was also a philosopher. He studied life, searching for meaning and truth in every facet. It was this tireless searching that led him to find Jesus in his last few years as he looked back on his life and realized that God had been there beside him, saving him all along the way.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis E. Hinkley and Ann Hinkley Boyle, and his sisters, Pamela Amendolare and Louanne Abruzzio.
In addition to his wife, Allison, he is survived by his brother Lewis ""Rusty"" Hinkley and wife Claire of Hyannis MA, four sons; Lawrence Edward Hinkley of D'Iberville, MS, James Michael Hinkley and his wife Connie of Long Beach, CA, Brian Scott Hinkley of D'Iberville, MS, and Justing Tyler Young of Perkinston, MS; two grandchildren, Brandy Lynn Hinkley Bay Saint Louis, MS and Patrick Ryan Belcher of Pensacola, FL; four great grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Crosspoint Church in Gulfport at 2 PM. Following the service, the family will be having a gathering at Larry and Allison's home.
