Lawrence Mark Akers of Pass Christian, MS passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. He was 68 years old.
Mark was born in Battle Creek, MI on November 19, 1949. He moved his family to Houston, TX in the early 70's where he worked as an electrician. His children remember him as being able to fix or build anything. From dune buggies to trailer sized BBQ pits, Mark created amazing things, but most importantly he created memories for his children to cherish.
He became enamored with the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the late 80's. There was something about that salty air and slower pace that kept him there for the last 30 years. His passion for boats and cigars emerged, and he will always be remembered for his belly chuckle and his favorite line, "...telling lies and having cold drinks with friends".
Mark left behind wonderful friends and a loving family. He made an impression on many, and will be missed deeply by all that knew him.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Anderson Hervig.
He is survived by his father, Lawrence Akers, Jr., his daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and Ricky Argovitz, his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Erin Akers, his grandchildren, Jake Doring, Rylie Doring, India Akers, Grayson Argovitz, and Esme Akers, his step-children Robert Wood and Jessica Goins, his step-grandchildren Ariel, Jonathan, Noah, Ajalae, Oliver, and Ethan, and his half-sister Dawn Akers Halbert.
