Laverne L. Garriga, age 84, of Long Beach, passed away on October 8, 2014 in Long Beach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney A. Garriga and Eula Mae Garriga; and two sisters, Earline Malley and Jeanette Garriga.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Irene B. Garriga of Long Beach; his children, Gary Garriga (Sonia) of Fenton and Reginald Garriga (Brenda) of Saucier; his grandson, Cody Garriga of Fenton; his sisters, Yvonne Spiers (Hollis) of Selliers, Jean Cuevas (Johnl) of White Cypress, and Carolyn Reeves (Gary) of Gulfport; his step children, Glenn White (Tammy) of Gulfport and Jean O'Riley (Frank) of Dallas; 7 step grandchildren; and a dear friend, Mori Smith.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from the Mississippi Air National Guard after many years of service.
He was of the Catholic faith and served as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport for 17 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a good neighbor to his many friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 9:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Long Beach. Burial with military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
