~~Laurie Walters passed away in Hattiesburg on Friday, September 15, 2017, at the age of 93. She was born to Ora and Ether Smith on July 10, 1924, in Picayune, MS.
She resided in Hattiesburg with her husband Charlie Walters since 2012, and were former residents of Saucier. She was a bookkeeper and interior designer and enjoyed gardening and fishing. She loved painting and enjoying the artwork she created.
She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother with a kind heart who always had a beautiful smile on her face.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Camille Erickson, Naomi Marchini, and Dot Haller, all of Picayune; brother, Nicky Smith, of Picayune, MS; and daughter, Dianne Walters Strahan of Saucier, MS.
Laurie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charlie Walters of Hattiesburg, MS; son, Ricky (Mary-Ellen) Walters of Saucier, MS; daughter, Joan (Sammy) Peterman of Perkinston; son-in-law, Larry Strahan of Saucier; sister, Becky McDonald of Baton Rouge, LA; brother, Alton Smith of Tickfaw, LA; grandchildren, Sharon (Eric) Landrum of Saucier; Jeff (Alisha) Strahan of Woodbridge, VA, Kris (Amy) Stewart of Vancleave, MS, Matt (Kristin) Peterman of Wiggins, and Angie Walters of Jackson, MS; great grandchildren, Hunter, Aaron, Jacob, Riley, Maelie, Hannah, Meredith, Sean, Jonathon, Ashleigh; step great grandsons, Carter, Colt, Damon; great-great grandchildren, Kolton, Kensleigh; soon to be great-great grandson, Kanton.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport beginning at 1:00PM.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
