Laurie Blackmarr Miller, a devoted mother, loving wife, and compassionate community servant, passed away peacefully in her home in Gulfport, Mississippi on April 18, 2026. Born in Minnesota, Laurie led a life marked by dedication to her family and her community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Laurie spent the early part of her adult life as a full-time mother, lovingly nurturing her children during their school years. Later, she embraced a professional role as a proud secretary for an insurance agent, demonstrating her commitment and work ethic. After relocating to Gulfport in 2006 following two decades of residence in North Georgia, Laurie found new purpose volunteering at a local food bank. Her tireless efforts there reflected her deep desire to serve and support others in her community.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; Laurie was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Long Beach, where she participated wholeheartedly in church activities. She found joy in many simple pleasures—spending cherished time with her family and grandchildren, immersing herself in outdoor activities such as planting and yardwork, and delighting in fishing trips. Laurie also enjoyed cruising on the Harley with her beloved spouse, Lane Miller, a pastime they treasured together.
Laurie is survived by her devoted husband, Lane Miller, who stood steadfastly by her side. She is also survived by her children: Nicholas and Cheryl Blackmarr, BJ Ferguson, Ashley Miller, and John and Wendy Miller. Laurie’s grandchildren—Ryan and Trever Carlino, Maddie and Noah Blackmarr, Andy, Hannah and Charlie Ferguson, and Christopher, Johnathan, Anna, Evie, and Katie Miller—were sources of immense joy and pride throughout her life. Her father, George Vickerman, and sister, Lynn Spencer, along with many nieces and nephews, also survive her. A special note of gratitude is extended to her niece, Wendy Martinez, for her support and presence.
Laurie’s family remembers those who have passed before her: her first husband, Bill Blackmarr; her mother, Joyce Vickerman; sister, Becky Vickerman; brother, Bart Vickerman; and son-in-law, Michael Ferguson, whose memories of Laurie are lovingly cherished.
Laurie Blackmarr Miller's life was a testament to kindness, steadfast faith, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. Her passing leaves a profound void, yet her legacy of love and service will forever resonate in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. She will be remembered with respect, admiration, and deepest affection.
