Laura Burrus Ramage, age 89, of Gulfport, passed away on June 2, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Ramage; her parents, William E. Burrus and Grace Burrus; two brothers, James Burrus and his wife, Dennie Burrus, and William ""Jr."" Burrus; her sister, Ruth Kelly and her husband, Elton Kelly; and a nephew, Billy Kelly.
She is survived by her children, Wally (Pam) Ramage, Clayton (Lawanda) Ramage, and Rusty (Kitty) Ramage; her grandchildren, Kim (Arron) Berkenwald, Kevin (Heather) Ramage, Amber (Hunter) Craig, Fallon Ramage and her fianceÌe, Jason , Scott (Cheryl) Carriere, Brian (Meredith) Carriere, Russell ""Tras"" Ramage and his fianceÌe, Tara, and Christopher ""Critter"" Ramage; her great grandchildren, Grace Ramage, Gil Ramage, Emma Craig, Olivia Craig, Regan Carriere, Austin Carriere, Carolina Carriere, Carter Carriere, and Carlin ""Dutch"" Carriere; and her nieces and nephews, Sandra Kelly, Wayne Kelly, Lorna Ann Broghrara, Garon Faye Trojanowski, and Melinda Burrus-Short.
Born in Handsboro, MS, she attended Handsboro Elementary School and graduated from Gulfport High School. She was a faithful member of Handsboro Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse who worked for Dr. Oney C. Raines, Sr for 20 years and later was a volunteer worker at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center.
An avid sports fan, she loved watching the Atlanta Braves and New Orleans Saints and was a huge fan of the Spiders softball team.
She owned and operated the Candlelight Inn Restaurant from 1967-1969. Cooking was an enjoyable hobby and she loved cooking and catering wedding receptions, cooking Sunday dinners, and making each Sunday feel like Thanksgiving and Christmas for her family. Hosting annual Christmas Eve and New Years Eve parties was a favorite for her.
She was the cornerstone that kept the family values and family together and was always giving to others before giving to herself.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Noon at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport with a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 AM until the service. Burial will follow at Coalville Cemetery, Woolmarket.
