Laura Ann Calvin (née Yates) passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, at her residence in Biloxi, Mississippi. Born on September 18, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, Laura brought warmth, laughter, and kindness into the lives of all who knew her.

Laura found endless joy in her family, always placing them at the center of her life. Laura is survived by her husband, Curt G. Calvin, and her devoted daughters, Elizabeth A. Tao (Marcus) and Heather Fields (Joel), who looked to her not only as a mother but as a guiding light and steadfast friend. Her brother Dennis Yates (Denise) and Steve Yates (Janet). The legacy she leaves behind is beautifully reflected in her grandchildren, Maria “Mia” E. Tao, Gavin M. Tao, Mason D. Fields, Hazel M. Fields, and Maverick G. Fields, each of whom carries memories of her love and unique spirit.

Laura’s roots were anchored by her loving parents, Richard A. Yates and Mary Jane Boeger, both of whom preceded her in death. She built strong bonds with her family, nurturing those ties with affection, care, and her generous heart.

From her earliest days in St. Louis, Laura filled her life with joy and adventure. As a high school cheerleader, her enthusiasm and team spirit were evident to all who knew her, and she attended college majoring in graphic design. Her creative talents blossomed in adulthood, where she found pleasure in knitting, quilting, and crocheting—especially when crafting handmade gifts for her daughters and grandchildren. Laura’s love for vibrant gardens was clear to anyone who saw her proud displays of giant sunflowers and elephant ears, always tended with a loving hand.

Her home was the scene of wonderful family gatherings, anchored by the aromas of her famous Christmas cookies and her renowned chili, lasagna, and chicken dumplings—each meal a testament to her nurturing soul and culinary skill.

Mom, you are gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. We will definitely miss your long conversations and funny comebacks, especially when you always said "Whoa trigger." We love you mom and grandma.

The family is planning a Memorial Gathering to be held at a later date.
