He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram Sollie Rester, Sr. and Mary Smith; and his brother, Hiram Sollie Rester, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Wynona Thompson Rester; children, John S. Rester, Lawrence D. Rester, and Robert A. Rester; sisters, Rebecca Sanford and Brenda Kaye Wells; brother, Tommy Jack Rester and Billy Wayne Rester; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
