Larry J. Cotton, 68, a resident of Thibodaux, LA and Gulfport, MS, and a native of Dulac, LA, passed away on July 14, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years, Louella D. Cotton.
Larry is survived by his son, Ulbert Landry; daughter, Michelle Chauvin; grandchildren, Kassidi Dupre (Joseph), Konnori Battee, and Kevin Chauvin; and great-grandchild, Kayleigh Dupre.
He is also survived by his brothers, Lawrence Cotton, David Cotton, and Daniel Cotton; sisters, Dianna Cotton, Patricia Cotton, and Virginia C. Billiot (Julius); godchild, Julia Price (Sheldon), and Wyatt Price; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Cotton and Florence Verdin Cotton; brother Dennis Cotton; sister Jean Cotton Graham; nephew Paul Junius Pierre Jr.; and niece Emily Skye Moliniere.
His paternal grandparents were Dennis Cotton and Marie Lovenia Rodrigue Cotton; his maternal grandparents were John Verdin and Azelia Fitch Verdin.
Captain Larry, a devoted Offshore Boat Captain throughout his life, has made his final voyage, leaving behind a legacy as vast and meaningful as the open sea he loved. Known for his unwavering loyalty and devotion to the Gulf, he lived a life defined by purpose and deep commitment.
Admired for his generous spirit and tender compassion, Larry was even more cherished in the roles that mattered most — loving husband, devoted father, and adoring “Pawpaw.”
Raised in the embrace of a large and loving family, Larry carried the values of connection, joy, and togetherness with him always. His legacy sails on in the lives he touched, and in the memories held dear by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Samart Funeral Home, 4511 West Park Ave, Gray, LA 70359, from 10:00 am until the memorial service at 12:00 PM.
