Ben Kittrell Glenn III, 55, of Gulfport, MS, died on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Kit was a lifelong resident of Gulfport. He was an active member for 30 years at St. John Episcopal Church of Ocean Springs, MS, where he served as junior and senior warden. He was recently an active member of St. Peters by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Gulfport where he served on the Vestry.
Mr. Glenn was a graduate of Gulfport High School, Class of 1975. He graduated with a B.S. in business from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Mississippi Power Company for 31 years in Human Resources.
Kit was a member of the Gulfport Yacht Club. He served on the board of directors of the Humane Society of South Mississippi, the Gulfport Planning Commission, and the Gulfport Civil Service Commission. He served in the Episcopal Cursillo Movement. He loved music and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a loving and loyal husband, friend, brother, and uncle.
His parents, Ben Kittrell Glenn, Jr. and Alice Sneed Glenn and a brother, William Theodore Glenn, preceded Mr. Glenn in death.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jane Ranson Glenn; a sister, Margaret Glenn Rocconi and her husband, Dr. Paul Rocconi of Hattiesburg, MS; and in-laws, Foley and Sheree Ranson of Ocean Springs, MS; Carl and Mary Ann Necaise; David and Cathy McGuffee; Frank and Louise Wheat; Robert Ranson and Mary Ranson all of Gulfport, and Tom and Celeste Ranson of Camden, SC. He leaves behind 18 nieces and nephews and 16 grands.
A special thanks to Dr. Pamela Tuli and staff and Dr. Michael Cheng and staff of Memorial's Cancer Center; Dr. Fred Pakron; Camellia Home Health, Compassus Hospice, and to all the loving and capable caregivers of Memorial Hospital's 3B and 4C.
Visitation will be held at St. Peter's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 15th Street, Gulfport from 9 - 11 am on Saturday, August 25, 2012, with a Requiem Mass immediately following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to St. Peter's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Gulfport, MS, or to the Gulf Coast Community Ministries of Gulfport.
