Kenneth Wayne Smith

Dr. Kenneth Wayne Smith, age 72, of Ocean Springs, passed away in the loving arms of his wife and daughter on February 1, 2016, after courageously accepting his diagnosis of brain cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Henry L. and Marteal (Mattox) Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lynn (McMurphy) Smith; his five children, Jessica Lynn Roberts (Matt), Monica Kay George (Eric), Beth Dukes, Tracy Weems (Dean), and Richard Dukes (Zeliha); his siblings, Audrey Brigman (M.P.), and Larry L. Smith (Frances); his grandchildren, Courtney Rickett (Ryan), Seth Holder, Hannah George, Madisen George, Jacob Weems, Sarah Lynn Weems, and James ""Scooter"" Holifield.
Kenneth was a graduate of Moss Point High School, the University of Southern Mississippi, and Loyola School of Dentistry New Orleans, LA. He practiced dentistry for 33 years where he was fondly known by his many loved patients as ""Dr. Kenny"".
Ken earned his pilot license in 1976, and loved to fly which led him to serve 25 years on the Jackson County Airport Authority.
He was a member of the Loose Cannons Sunday School Class at First Baptist of Gautier. His passion was to create and invent. He was known for his mastery of woodworking, and created many beautiful pieces displayed throughout the southeast.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Gautier, where friends may visit from 1:00 pm until the 3:00 pm memorial service time.
