Kenneth James O'Brien

Kenneth James O'Brien, Sr., age 82 of Long Beach, MS passed away May 12, 2015 at home with his family by his bedside. He is with his Lord and Heavenly Father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John O'Brien and Pauline Freeman; his son, Kenneth J. O'Brien, Jr.; and sisters, Lucille Finlaw and Lorraine Nathans.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise Angeline O'Brien of Long Beach; sons, Timothy (Paula) O'Brien and Patrick O'Brien of New Jersey; daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Harshbarger and Louise O'Brien of Long Beach, Eileen (Jeff) Jenkins of New Jersey, Maureen (William) Morris of Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, John Freeman of Maryland and John O'Brien of New Jersey; and a sister, Jo O'Brien of New Jersey.
A graduate of Paulsboro High Class of 1950, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1953-1955. Originally from Paulsboro, Mr. O'Brien raised his family in Gibbstown and later retired to Long Beach in 1996. He worked for Hercules Chemical Comp. in Gibbstown, E.I. DuPont's in Deepwater, N. J. and in Delisle, MS. He also worked for Medal Comp. in Wilmington, DE. He was a special officer for the Gibbstown Police Dept.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 2pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
The family prefers memorial donations to Notre Dame Hospice, 5407 Indian Hill Blvd., Diamondhead, MS 39525, or to Holy Family Catholic Church, 22342 Evangeline Dr., Pass Christian, MS 39571.
