Kenneth Keith Kothmann

July 29, 1944 — July 14, 2025

Diamondhead, MS

Kenneth Keith Kothmann, known fondly as "Trip" , passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Long Beach, Mississippi, at the age of 80. Born on July 29, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Kenneth lived a life dedicated to service, love, and family, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Trip enjoyed a distinguished career as a pilot in the United States Air Force, serving diligently from 1968 until his retirement in 1992 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Following his retirement, he continued to serve in the Louisiana National Guard, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country.  Trip embraced the spirit of home and resilience, remaining in his childhood home in Waveland until Hurricane Katrina prompted his move to Diamondhead in 2006.

Despite his many accomplishments, Trip was a simple man who loved quietly. Those blessed to receive his affection knew it as his greatest gift. His personality was marked by a deep sense of humility, and he often found joy in the simple pleasures of life. The annual Uncle Noon golf tournament held a special place in his heart, serving as the highlight of his year, when the camaraderie and socializing took precedence over the game itself.

Kenneth is survived by his doting daughters, Karyn and Robin (Ted), as well as their mother, Carolyn. He was a proud grandfather to Nate (Ali), Seth, Molly (Mason), Cam, and Blaine, who will all miss his gentle spirit and wise counsel. Kenneth is also remembered by his brother, Greg, as well as his niece, Christy, and nephew, Greg. He enjoyed the company of multiple cousins, who were more like brothers and sisters, further enriching his life and experience.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lois, and several cousins. He leaves behind a cherished memory in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy will continue to shine through the stories shared and the lives he touched.

Family and friends are invited to honor Kenneth's life during visitation on August 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport, Mississippi. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, concluding with his military burial at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
