Major Kayla Marie Andrews, age 34, of D’Iberville, Mississippi, passed away on June 25, 2026.
Kayla lived a life defined by courage, dedication, and service to others. She was a graduate of Biloxi High School, where she proudly participated in the Biloxi High School ROTC program. She continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi, earning her college degree and preparing for a life of service to her country.
Following college, Kayla entered the United States Air Force, where she proudly and faithfully served her country for 12 years, achieving the rank of Major. Throughout her distinguished military career, Kayla received numerous awards, certificates, and decorations in recognition of her dedication and sacrifice, including the Purple Heart. After more than a decade of honorable service, she retired from the United States Air Force in January 2026.
While Kayla’s military accomplishments speak to her strength and bravery, those who knew and loved her will remember her most for the place she held in their hearts. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, fellow service members, and colleagues. Her life touched countless people, and the love she shared will continue to live on through each of them.
Kayla was preceded in death by her parents, Kalman “Andy” Andrews and Carolyn Andrews; her maternal grandparents, Jeff and Elva Wilson; her paternal grandparents, Harry and Winifred “Kate” Andrews; Maw Maw Jennie and Paw Paw Eddie Hire; Nanny Deborah and Albert Graham; her uncles, Alvin “Sonny” Wilson, Lionel Wilson, Charles “Gobbie” Wilson, Steve Wilson, Seburn Wilson, Harry “Butch” Andrews, and Lawrence Andrews.
Kayla leaves behind a large and loving family to cherish her memory, including her aunt, Shirley “Dusty” Rhoades; her chosen sister and cousin, Courtney (Robbie) Ingram and her son, Jameson; her uncle, Curtis “Boy” Wilson, and his daughters, Janet, Sandy, Kim, Diana, and Rosie; her aunt, Gloria Cothern; her aunt, Vica (Bryson) Dees; her uncle, Lionel Cothern, his daughter, Amber, and son, Lionel Jr. (Amanda); her uncle, Tommy Cothern, his daughter, Tiffany, and son, Sean; her uncle, Curtis (Ann) Lopez and his sons, Curtis Jr. and Justin (Bridgette); her aunt, Jean Wilson and her daughter, Monica; her cousin, Eddie (Tori) Graham and daughters, Emma and Jon Elle; her cousin, Albert Jr.; and her aunt, Deana Quave, her daughters, Melissa and Marie, and sons, Steve, David, and Christopher.
She is also survived by her uncle, David (Lynn) Andrews and their children, Eric and Aaron; her sister, Maureen (Robert) Ronson and their children, Joshua (Melissa), David (Jessica), and Rachel; and her aunt, Shelley (Mawhiney) Andrews and her children, Chad (Kristen), Kyle (Jamie), and Jenna (Steve).
Kayla also leaves behind numerous cousins, friends, colleagues, and fellow service members, along with her beloved emotional support dog, Maggie Andrews, who held a very special place in her heart.
Kayla was loved by all who knew her. Her courage, devotion, and remarkable spirit will never be forgotten. Though her time here was far too short, the impact of her life and service will remain forever. Kayla will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who loved her.
A visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 12:00 p.m. at The Riemann Family Funeral Home located at 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., in West Jackson County. A procession to Biloxi National Cemetery will follow where Kayla will be laid to rest after receiving Full United States Air Force Military Honors being rendered.
