Kathryn Fischer Gayle, age 83, and a resident of Biloxi passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in Moss Point.
Kathryn or ""Kay"" was the second of four children born to Arthur John and Ruby Lee Smith Fischer of Brookhaven, MS.
She attended Whitworth College in Brookhaven and upon graduation she was employed by the Transportations Corps of the U.S. Army in the Pentagon. In her 25 years of employment with the Federal Government, she worked for all the military services in addition to the Dept. of Agriculture and VA. She retired as Supervisor of Medical Transcription at USAF Medical Center, Keesler AFB, MS.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; a younger sister, Josephine Ann Fischer, and husbands, Walter Gregory Gayle, Sr., and Floyd Edward Waldrop.
She is survived by three children: Donni Waldrop, of Madison, MS, Sherrie Kathryn Waldrop Lorentz of Bay St. Louis, and Kevin Waldrop of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren: Aimee Rogers of Birmingham, AL, John Walker, Jr. of Houston, TX, and Seth Walker of Estes Park, CO; her great-granddaughter, Katie Rogers; sister, June Carr of Natchez, MS, and her brother, Daryl Fischer of Marietta, GA.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
