Julious DeArman Hilton, affectionately known as J.D., Pops, and Paw Paw, passed away on February 18, 2024, in Gulfport, Mississippi at the age of 79. He was born on September 29, 1944, in Upson County, Georgia, to Milton L. Hilton and Nellie “Inez” Watson Powell. Julious attended Robert E Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia, and enlisted in the US Navy in 1962.

Petty Officer 1st Class, Julious D. Hilton (US Navy Retired) served as a Gunner’s Mate, demonstrating exceptional bravery and dedication in the Cold War, Vietnam War and the Gulf War. Among his many awards, his service was notably recognized with the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. In 1996 he retired from his distinguished military career as a Petty Officer 1st Class. After retiring from the Navy, he embarked on a secondary career in Security along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Julious was a devoted family man with conservative values, known for his strong will, independence, and forgiving nature. He cherished spending time at home, loved to cook, and enjoyed hobbies such as square dancing, bowling, and bingo. He held a deep desire for family unity and abhorred discord. His love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Lady, was evident to all who knew him.

He is survived by his four children, Wendell Hilton (Tabitha) and their sons, Taylor and Justin Hilton; Michael Burnham (Christle) and their daughters, Savannah and Shyanne Burnham; Chris Burnham (Robin "MeMe") and their children, Damon, Aliyah, Christopher "C.J.", Kaylee Burnham, Tristan, and Tierney Pearson; and Nicole Kissell (Andrew "Drew") and their son, Aldon Kissell. He is also survived by his sisters, Hazel Nix, Maxene Jones, Ezell Knowler, Marie Rogers, and Connie Potts (Johnny), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Julious was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Hilton, his parents Milton “Dee” L. Hilton and Nellie “Inez” Watson Powell, and his sister, Nellie Paulk.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 4:00 PM, followed by visitation from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Rd. Gulfport, MS 39503.

Graveside services with full military honors will be Friday, February 23, 2024 at 9:00 AM, at Biloxi National Cemetery. For those that would like to ride in the funeral procession, it will leave at 8:10 AM from the funeral home at 11280 Three Rivers Rd. Gulfport.
