Judith Ann Nixon

DIberville

Judith (Judy) Nixon passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023, at the age of 82.

Judy was born in Tallapoosa, Georgia on June 25, 1940 to father, Greene Bernard (GB) Evans Jr and mother Cora Beth Evans (Head). The oldest of three daughters, Judy graduated Tallapoosa High School and attended North Georgia College before marrying her High School sweetheart, Harvey Nixon Jr. After a short stint as a teacher, Harvey joined the Air Force, and their adventures began.

Over the next three decades they raised three children and traveled the world from Japan to Germany to Holland enjoying the distinct cultures and developing lifelong friendships at every stop.  Judy had a myriad of interests from piano to choir, to bowling to cross-stich to reading, and was the consummate military spouse and mother.  At every stop she volunteered at the Officer Wives Club, Protestant Women of the Chapel, and Youth Leagues for whatever sport happened to be in season sacrificing her time and interests to enable the success of Harvey and her boys.  Harvey and Judy eventually retired in Biloxi, Mississippi and focused their time on community activities, traveling and their ten grandkids.  They believed in hard work, community service, and family.  They loved deeply and were deeply loved.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, GB and Cora Beth Evans; her loving husband and lifelong best friend, Colonel (Ret) Harvey L. Nixon Jr.; her sister, Nancy (Evans) Stelljes; and a grandson, Kyle Nixon.

She is survived by her sister, Jill (Evans) Holder; her sons, and their spouses, Brigadier General (R) Craig and Debbie Nixon, Kevin and Barbara Nixon, and Lieutenant Colonel (R) Michael and Leigh Nixon; and nine grandchildren.
