Judge Roger T. Clark

d. May 2, 2025

Gulfport

Roger Clark, a devoted attorney and former judge, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 7, 1939, in Iuka, Mississippi, Roger was known throughout his life for his kindness, unwavering fairness, and absolute humility.

Roger carried the values of his small-town upbringing with him throughout his life. A self-described “country boy from Iuka,” his personal life and legal career were marked by integrity. After completing his law degree, he practiced law in his adopted hometown of Gulfport, Mississippi, where he eventually served with distinction as a judge. He earned widespread respect for his calm, patient demeanor. Despite his position, he never let it go to his head. He treated everyone the same—whether you were an attorney, a member of the court staff, or a criminal defendant, you could expect to be treated with dignity and respect.

True to his roots, Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was moderately competent in each. When his body made those hobbies more difficult, he could often be found chasing the elusive royal flush at certain establishments that currently dot the coast.

He was a cherished husband, father, brother, and mentor. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anita Clark; his children, Miller Karetas, Kyle Clark, and Kirk Clark; his many grandchildren; and his brothers, Richard and Stanton Clark.

In keeping with his wishes, the family will honor Roger’s life in a private ceremony.
