Joycelyn Belcher Wallis, 82, a resident of Pass Christian, Mississippi, and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on April 25, 2026.
Mrs. Wallis was a graduate of East Jefferson High School in New Orleans and retired from Crescent Bank and Trust after many years of dedicated service. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was especially known for her warmth, generosity, and her cherished family traditions, including her well-loved red beans and rice and her Christmas Eve gumbo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Pearl Belcher; her brother, Samuel Belcher; and her sister, Barbara Pertuit.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Henry Morgan Wallis, Sr.; her children, Henry Morgan Wallis, Jr. and his wife, Bonney Jean Wallis, Eric Daniel Wallis, and Kimberly Wallis Owens and her husband, Michael Lawrence Owens; her brother, Roland Belcher and his wife, Elsa Belcher; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the families of her late siblings, Samuel Belcher and his wife, Mary Belcher, and Barbara Pertuit and her husband, the late Kenneth Pertuit.
Mrs. Wallis is further survived by her grandchildren, Alexis “Lexi” Wallis Perry, Andrew Daniel Wallis, McKenzie Grace Wallis, Charlotte Reese Wallis, Jorden Pete, Mason Morgan Owens, Michelle Taylor Owens, Megan Owens Hogge, Chandler Pastorek, Emma Grace Jones, and Zaylan Morgan Wallis; and her great-grandchildren, Aubrie Lynn Perry, Elijah Robert Perry, Nash Joseph Perry, Ford Samuel Perry, and Harrison Blake Wallis.
She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Pass Christian and found great joy in spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, socializing with friends, and participating in various leisure activities throughout her life. She loved spending time at the casino, especially after her son went to college in Las Vegas, where she often enjoyed those moments alongside her best friend, Gay Genard.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 141 Highway 90, Waveland, Mississippi, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
