Joyce Bennett Heran

Joyce Bennett Heran, age 71, passed away on December 4, 2024, in Ocean Springs, MS. A beloved resident of Tampa, Florida for over 40 years, she relocated to Ocean Springs four years ago.

Joyce graduated from King High School in Tampa and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Florida State University. She dedicated 5 years to the Peace Corps in the Marshall Islands and spent 40 years as a teacher with the Hillsborough County Public School System. Joyce was loved and cherished by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Gerald Bennett and Janice Smith Bennett; son, Charlie Heran; former husband, Carlin Heran; sister, Nancy Bennett.

Joyce is survived by her son, Nick Heran of Tampa, FL; grandson, Charlie Heran of Wesley Chapel, FL; one brother, Russell Bennett of Waitsfield, VT; and one sister, Jean Hamlett of Ocean Springs, MS.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tampa, Florida.
