Joyce Dove

Joyce "Joy" Dove departed this world for her eternal home on January 2, 2017, but her life on this earth was one filled with laughter and with love.
Joy was extremely devoted to her family, especially her husband Brian, whom she described as her best friend. She and Brian shared 34 years of love with one another during which they experienced life to the fullest extent, side-by-side and hand-in-hand.
Joy was the mother of three children, Daniel Dove, Keith Dove, and Nicole Dove, on whom she lavished her love and affection. Her children were the pride of her life, and she cherished them deeply. Her grandson, Leon Dove, was able to experience her love for only a short two and a half years, but Joy's love for him, and his for her, is so great that it will endure for a lifetime. Joy grew up in a large family with seven siblings: Bonnie Grant, Julie Wilson, Patty Lloyd, Donny Akins, Timmy Akins, Lynda Nix, and Kristi Scheidt. Joy loved to recount stories of her childhood with her siblings, and she cherished trips late in her life with her youngest siblings Lynda and Kristi. Her father Ora "Joe" Akins and mother Imo Scheidt preceded her to Heaven, and she counted herself blessed to have her father-in-law Vernon Dove and her mother-in-law Maxine Dove whom she often referred to as her second set of parents.
Joy was a creative woman who saw the beauty in everything and who had a gift for making anything more beautiful. She loved to work in her garden and she had a talent for making things grow. She loved to sing, especially to her Lord and Savior, and she did so often in the choir of her home church, Beauvoir United Methodist Church. Joy was welcomed into the arms of Jesus while surrounded by her family, who were singing praise to their Lord for Joy's life and the time they had been given with her.
Services celebrating Joy's life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Beauvoir United Methodist Church in Biloxi. A visitation will be held from 12-2, and the funeral will directly follow.
Burial will be in Finley Cemetery.
