Joyce Ladner, of Gulfport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the age of 85. Joyce was born on January 9, 1940, in Gulfport, MS, the daughter of Percy and Myrtis Deshamp. She was a beloved wife, mother, "Nana", mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend.
Joyce cherished spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life, filling her days with joy and laughter. Joyce loved the kitchen and would always use any excuse to cook or bake something for someone. She loved playing cards with her family, reading, and vacationing in the mountains. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lizana and was a beautician for over 50 years.
Joyce's life will forever be cherished by her children, Eddie (Sherran) Ladner, Roger (Amy) Ladner, and Elaine Ladner; her grandchildren: Mia (Chad) Lee, Shelene (Adam) Knight, Shanna (Chase) Combest, Andy Ray Patton; her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Simmons, Kylee Capuano, Aspen Simmons, Madalyn Patton, Tucker Ladner, Kane Knight, Carson Lee, Kayten Knight, Rowan Combest, Denver Deas, Ridge Combest; and her great-great-granddaughter, Kenzley Simmons. Also left to mourn are her sisters, Doris Snowden of Gulfport and Gayle Cochran (Brant) of Brooklyn, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, her partner in life and love of 61 years, Edward "Joe" Ladner; her grand-daughter, Nicole Patton Deas; siblings, Preston Deshamp, Larry Deshamp, Suzie Deshamp Erkhart , Richard “Dubbie” Deshamp, Julie Deshamp Weldon and Percy Ray Deshamp.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for the excellent care and services they provided to Joyce and for their kindness and compassion they showed to the family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lizana with a visitation from 1:00 PM until the Mass. Interment will be in Wedgeworth Cemetery on Saucier Lizana Road in Saucier.
Your life was a blessing. Your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
