Joy Burns

Joy Burns, 60, of Saucier, Mississippi, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana, with her loving family by her side.

Joy was a faithful servant of God, a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, a beloved sister, and a treasured friend. Throughout her life, she demonstrated remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and a servant’s heart. She was a true fighter, especially when it came to her health, facing every challenge with courage, grace, and determination. Though her earthly body grew weary, her spirit remained strong. Her family finds peace in knowing that God saw her struggles, heard her prayers, and lovingly called her home to rest in his eternal presence.

Joy lived her life putting others before herself. If someone was in need, she would gladly go without to ensure they had what they needed. She carried a smile on her face and kindness in her voice, often reassuring others that she was "okay," even when she was facing difficulties of her own. She rarely let her fears show, especially to her children, choosing instead to be a source of strength, encouragement, and unconditional love.

Those who knew Joy will remember her as a woman of compassion, generosity, and deep faith. She loved fiercely, gave freely, and found joy in caring for others. Her life reflected the words of Jesus, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Her unwavering love for her family and trust in God will remain a lasting testimony to all who were blessed to know her.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Robert Rose; her brothers, James Rose and Buddy Rose; and her sisters, Mary Rawson and Rena Buckley.

She is survived by her loving husband, Samuel Burns; her daughters, Alishan (Simon) Gibson, Theresa Steiner, and Amanda McLain; her twin sister, Joyce (Kevin) Brushaber; her brothers, Michael Rose and Teddy (Lauren) Rose; and her beloved Boston Terrier, Betsy.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Conner Wiggins, Hannah Gibson, Hailey Gibson, Mya Cuevas, and Maddox Cuevas.

Joy is further survived by her nieces and nephews, Crystal Rose, Bobby Rose, Jacob (Rendy) Brushaber, Dylan (Addy) Brushaber, Thea (Seth) Rose, and Barrett Rose; her great-niece, Nova Brushaber; and her great-nephews, Noah Brushaber and Grayson Brushaber.

While our hearts mourn her absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and find comfort in knowing that Joy has been made whole. We take solace in the assurance that she is no longer suffering but is resting peacefully in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, kindness, strength, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her until the day we meet again.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
