Joe was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, and graduated from St. John High School in 1961. Following high school, Joe proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965. During his military service, he was stationed in Hawaii and at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and also served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he used the GI Bill to attend The University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated with dual degrees in Accounting and Economics.

Joe spent many years working as an accountant, including service with the Internal Revenue Service and the Defense Contract Audit Agency.

In 1966, Joe married his high school sweetheart, Nancy. Together, they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, marking a lifetime of love and devotion to one another and their family.

Joe’s Catholic faith was an important part of his life. Growing up, he served as an altar server and later made sure his children were given the gift of a Catholic education. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and took great pride in supporting them throughout their lives.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Aileen Yentzen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy; his children, Jennifer D’Aquilla (David), Michael Yentzen, and Patrick Yentzen; his granddaughters, Anna (Morgan) Laufhutte and Sarah D’Aquilla; and other family members who will cherish his memory.
