Joseph Weekley

Joseph "Joey" James Weekley, age 68, of Saucier, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
Mr. Weekley was born in Lumberton and grew up in Saucier.  As a kid, he worked for his grandmother Ruby at her general store in Saucier. Joey loved to tell stories of his days helping his "Grandma Ruby" and her longtime customers. He was a former employee of Paceco/Cemco and Halter Marine, where he spent most of his time in Planning and Scheduling.  After years of hard work, he retired from Gulf Copper in Galveston in 2015.  Through the years, Joey loved deer hunting and going on fishing trips at the family's fishing camp on the Pascagoula River. Cooking on his grill and smoker, and spending time with his family were times he treasured most.  His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was totally dedicated to them and their activities.  Joey attended Saucier United Methodist Church, where he had been a member for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank G. Weekley and Mamie Pitts Davis.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Beverly "Sissy" Saucier Weekley; children, Sonya Cowart, Suzy Ladner (Dale), Andre' Slade; siblings, Michael "Tinker" Weekley (Nancy) and Dale Weekley; grandchildren, Colby Cowart, Hannah Slade, Jordan Ladner, and Lauren Ladner; his brother-in-law, Randall Saucier; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Joey always believed you get out of anything what you put into it, and instilled this thought in his kids and grandkids. Since retirement, he loved just being at home and spending time with his wife, Sissy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Saucier United Methodist Church, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  Services will follow in the sanctuary at 3:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery.
