Joseph Turk

Joseph Turk, age 77 and a resident of Gulfport, passed away on December 12, 2015, in Gulfport.
He was born on April 14, 1938, in Eveleth, Minnesota to Joe and Olga Turk. He grew up in Virginia, Minnesota and joined the service. He served his country honorably for 26 years in the United States Marine Corps and Air Force retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. Upon retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the Raytheon Corporation eventually settling in Gulfport. He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa and loved to fish.
Mr. Turk was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Olga Turk and his brother, Tony Turk.
He is survived by his brother, John Turk; his wife, Joyce; his sons, Joe Jr. (Tricia) and Jeff (Kim); his daughters, Jackie Pratte (Dave) and Jennifer Oliverio (Bob); eight grandchildren, Ashley Pratte, Christi Pratte, Christopher Turk, Andrew Turk, Sammy Oliverio, Caroline Oliverio, Justin Ware, and Teresa Stafford (Brett); and 2 great granddaughters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 3:30pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 2:30pm at Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, served the family.
