Joseph Paul Stiver, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, departed this life on August 31, 2025, in his hometown of Gulfport, Mississippi. Born on October 5, 1956, Joseph lived a life rich with love, family, and countless memories, which will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
Joseph enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Millwright, from which he retired after many dedicated years of service. His craftsmanship extended beyond his profession; he possessed an extraordinary ability to build anything with his hands, showcasing creativity and skill that inspired admiration. Also, an Army Veteran, Joseph served in the 82nd Airborne. One of the things he was most proud of was serving his country.
Education was important to Joseph, who graduated from high school, yet it was his passions that truly defined him. He found immense joy in playing guitar, often gathering with friends to share music and laughter. His home was a haven of warmth, frequently hosting barbecues for his beloved wife and grandchildren—memories they will treasure forever.
A lover of sports and fishing, Joseph embraced life's simple pleasures with enthusiasm and zeal. He was known for his unwavering faith, proudly identifying as a Baptist, and placing his trust in God throughout his life.
Joseph leaves behind a devoted wife, Julie Norreen Hagen Stiver, and three loving children: Mindy (Scott) Dunkleberger, Jennifer (John) Bourque, Jr., and Samantha (Freeman) Roberts. He was a proud grandfather to Erik A Hubbert, Jr., Ysenya A. Hubbert, Zachary O Roberts, Jason T Roberts, John E Bourque, III, Mikaylah J Roberts, and Julie Janie-Mae Bourque. Additionally, he was a great-grandfather, a role he cherished, to Averie M Hubbert, Langston Hubbert, and Zaylin A Hubbert.
Joseph's family includes siblings Robert (Mary) Stiver, Jackie Stiver, Gregory Stiver, Mardi (Sam) O'Neal, and Edgar Stiver. He is reunited in eternal rest with beloved family members, including his parents, Farrell Lamar Stiver, Sr. and Doris Maxine Stiver, his brothers, Farrell Lamar "Butch" Stiver, Jr., as well as Patricia Stiver Eagan and Vicky Lynn Stiver.
As we remember Joseph Paul Stiver, we hold dear his spirit, kindness, and the many moments filled with laughter and love. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy of love and family will endure in the hearts of those he touched.
"We got this, Babe! Everything will be alright. We might not have it all together, but together we have it all."
