Joseph Henry Steinwinder

Joseph Henry Steinwinder Sr. of Gulfport, age 85, went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 12, 2013. Mr. Steinwinder was preceded in death by his wife Kittie Lou Riemann Steinwinder; parents Mary Virginia and James Steinwinder; sisters Ann Bryant and Sarah Brooks; and brothers Glenn and Jimmy Steinwinder.
He is survived by his daughter Gloria (David) Bourgeois; son Joe Jr. (Cindy) Steinwinder; grandsons David, Neal, Jeff, and Thomas (Hillary) Steinwinder, Taylor (Aaron) and Austin (Emily) Bourgeois; and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Steinwinder served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. A natural born teacher, he was a faculty member at Gulfport High School and Gulf Park College. He was a longtime owner of Cardinal Flowers in Gulfport and founded Steinwinder Enterprises, a global importer. He was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, loved God's word and teaching Bible studies.
With a heart for those who had fallen on tough times, Mr. Steinwinder was instrumental in the rebuilding of Feed My Sheep after Hurricane Katrina. Feed My Sheep, a ministry founded by his brother in law, Dr. Ted Riemann, provides meals and food for those in need.
Mr. Steinwinder was a man of integrity and keen intellect who loved God and family above all else. A true giver, he leaves a legacy of selfless generosity and compassion for others.
His family would like to thank the staff of Garden Park Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital, the VA Hospice, and Dr. Boyd Benefield who showed God's love through their care of him in his last days.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport with a visitation for family and friends from 8:30 AM until the service. A private graveside service will be held following the chapel service.
