Joseph Revon

Joseph "Joe" Anthony Revon, 95, was born July 26, 1922 to Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Cola Revon, Sr. in Havana, Cuba. He passed away at the Gulf Coast Veterans Hospital in the Rio Grande Unit, Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Cola Revon, Sr. and Amparo Rodriguez Revon; and his brothers and sisters, Alvin Revon, Nick Revon, Jr., Shirley Revon, Irma Revon, and Nieves Revon Rodriguez.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Nena Peoples Revon; his children, Mrs. Cindy Creel (Barney), Mrs. Tiffany Hancock (Doug), Mrs. Pat Head (Will), and Ms. Judy Chauvin; seven grandchildren, Corey Creel, Julia Hancock, Blake Hancock, Thomas Callaghan, Charlie Chauvin (Jane), Beth Chauvin, and Mrs. Mary Carlson (Brad); three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Revon was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Gulfport, MS.  He served in the Army in the 139th Airborne Engineer Battalion during World War II as a paratrooper in the Battle of the Bulge, the last major German offensive campaign. He was one of seven survivors in his platoon. He received the Bronze Star, was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), and two Battle Stars. He received his American citizenship at the time of his enlistment in the United States Army.
He retired from Dole Fresh Fruit Company after thirty three years of employment and later worked for the Fair Grounds in New Orleans and Reliable RV and Sales in Gulfport.
Mr. Revon was the First Vice commander of the DAV and was a top salesperson in the US for El Dorado Motor Homes.
He loved his family, his country, and all sports. He especially loved spending time with his four girls, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Post #5, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2539, National Order of the Trench Rats, which is the Honor Degree of the DAV, Military Order of the Cootie, which is the Honor Degree of the VFW, the Gulfport Yacht Club, and the Great Southern Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 6, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where friends may visit from 8:00 a.m. until the service.  Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery with honors by the U.S. Army.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and St. James Catholic Church - CYO. The family would like to recognize and thank everyone at the Community Living Center at the Biloxi VA for their service.
