Joseph Ray "Joby" Landry
d. August 16, 2013
SMSgt (Ret) Joseph (Joby) Ray Landry, age 55, of Gulfport passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013.
Mr. Landry was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Pervis Ray and Ernestine Love Landry. He was retired from the United States Air Force where he served as an Air Reserve Technician at the 403rd Wing in a dual military and civilian capacity.
Joby was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Susan Powell; and step-brother, Derril Cannon.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Alvarez Landry; and his children, Chantal Landry King of Biloxi and Adriana Landry of Gulfport; sisters Deborah Fortenberry of Vancleave Marcella Spinnato, and Cathy Quinn, and brother Peter Landry, all of Gulfport.
After retirement from the Air Force, he and his wife, Mary Ellen, opened and operated Ethos Staffing Service. Always the mild soft spoken person, he was strong of character and placed the care of others above his own. He did not speak unkind words of any who crossed his path.
Joby loved fishing and spending time with his children and family. He loved to garden and enjoyed the fruits of his labor by cooking for his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to all who knew him.
The family would like to thank caregivers from Notre Dame Hospice as well as the staff of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and family and friends for their love and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DePew Road, Gulfport on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 12:00 noon. Friends may visit one hour prior to Catholic Mass Services.
The interment will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at the Biloxi VA National Cemetery.
