John E Znachko, 73, died Thursday, August 01, 2013, in Gulfport.
He was born in Freeland, PA and lived on the MS Gulf Coast most of his life with his loving wife Carolynn Kornman Znachko. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and the Air Force during the Vietnam War. His working career included being an electronics technician at Ingalls Shipyard before joining and retiring from Stennis Space Center; Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne and Boeing. On Dec. 14, 2005, at NASA's Stennis Space Center, he was awarded and honored with a ""Silver Snoopy,"" which was presented by the STS-114 ""Return to Fight Mission"" astronauts. The personal achievement award was given to only six space program workers by NASA's Astronaut Corps. Astronauts always present the ""Silver Snoopy"" because it is the astronauts' own award for outstanding performance, contributing to flight safety and mission success.
Mr. Znachko was preceded in death by his wife, Carolynn Znachko; parents, John and Mary Znachko; sister, Mary Joan Znachko. He is survived by one sister, Barbara Znachko, three sons, Carrall Znachko, Michael Znachko, John S Znachko, two daughters, Kimberly Kinnaird, Jaclynn Mims, ten grandchildren, Branden, Westen, Zach, Michael, Jr., Heather, Taylor, Caroline, Azlynn, Rylan, and Grayson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 10 - 11 am at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd., Biloxi, MS. The funeral service will be at 11 am Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will be in Southern Memorial Park.
