John Wayne Wittliff, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was 82 years old and a resident of Diamondhead, Mississippi.

A native of Taylor, Texas, John earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas. He enjoyed a 35-year career with Union Carbide and retired as an Assistant Plant Manager. John and Barbara made their home in Diamondhead for the past 25 years, where he was a member of Diamondhead Presbyterian Church.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Ruebell and John Wittliff. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Wittliff; his daughters, Karen and her husband, Corey, and Kathy and her husband, David; and his five grandchildren, Hayden, Hunter, Nicholas, Michael, and Katherine. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor John’s life on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, Mississippi 39503. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi, 2615 25th Ave., Gulfport, 39501, in John’s memory.
