John J. Wilhelm

d. February 29, 2012

Mr. John J. Wilhelm, of Gulfport, passed peacefully Wednesday, February 29, 2012 on his 70th birthday.
He was survived by his loving wife, Ida, his two sons Mike, wife Lois, and Gerrick, his daughter Marie, and granddaughter Ashley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose, and his father Joseph.
John served 20 years active duty in the Air Force as a Master Sergeant in the engineering department. He served another 27 years at Keesler AFB in civil service as the administrator of Facilities Management until he retired. He was born a Yankee, stationed in the south, and fell in love with the Gulf Coast. He was very active in the community and in his church, Our Lady of Fatima. He had a passion for rebuilding vintage cars. He collected antique guns and spoiled his cat, Jack, every day. John had a wonderful sense of humor and loved his children, and granddaughter, very much. John was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed terribly.
John loved Jesus very much and did everything in his honor. He preached to anyone who would listen and listened to anyone who had a story.
Please join us in honoring his life at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 9am for visitation, 10am for Mass and an Honor Guard tribute afterward.
