Chief Petty Officer (Retired) John R. Morgan, age 72 of Riverside, California, passed away August 6, 2015 in Hancock County.
John was born on February 21, 1943 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Martin Morgan and Evelyn Morrison. He enlisted into the US Navy in 1962 embarking on a successful military career, including multiple combat tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, as a Corpman, retiring in June, 1983. John was a longtime member SCCA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Evelyn Morgan, and his brother, Richard Morgan.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Everett Morgan of Bay St. Louis; his children, LaVaun Kelley and her husband Patrick of Clarksville, TN, Marie Bailey and her husband Steve of Murfreesboro, TN, and Daniel Morgan and his fianceÌe Becky Kinsey of Slidell, LA; his brother, James Morgan; his grandchildren, Kevin Skaines and his wife Haley, Caitlin Kelley, Sean Bailey, Kyla Bailey, Ryan Kelley, and Jace Morgan; his great grandchildren, Kaylie Lee and Ava Skaines and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at 12:30pm at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln Delisle Road in Pass Christian, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road in Pass Christian, served the family.
