John E. Hastings Sr.

John E. Hastings Sr. - A Loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023, at his home in Biloxi, MS surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on March 30, 1949, to George Ellsworth Hastings and Marjorie (nee Nadeau) Hastings in Montague City, MA.

John will be remembered for his deep love for his family. His warm and caring personality endeared him to all who knew him. As a devoted husband, he shared a beautiful journey of love and companionship with wife of 30 years Pauline (nee Atkins) Hastings. Together they created a loving home and cherished countless memories. 

A Veteran of the US Navy, John proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. His commitment and dedication to the Navy were a true testament to his patriotism.

John had diverse interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed the excitement of the races.  As an outdoor enthusiast, he found solace in camping and exploring nature's beauty. He had many adventures with his wife as they traveled the country in their RV. In quieter moments, John delighted in watching game shows and found joy in horseback riding.

John leaves behind a legacy that will forever be honored by his adoring family. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Pauline, his daughter Regina (Rodney) Lister, son Shawn (Carmelita) Hastings, son Michael (Corine) Walton, daughter Marcie Valenzuela Hastings, son Chevy Hastings, son Johnny (Ellen) Hastings Jr., as well as thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother Michael (JoAnn) Hastings, brother Jerry (Deb) Hastings, brother Kevin (Judy) Hastings, sister Pat Thompson, sister Jeanne (Joe) Mitchell, sister Jackie (Paul) Waldron, and several nieces and nephews.

The memory of John E. Hastings Sr. will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to family will continue to inspire generations to come.

Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and memorial services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials to the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or the Salvation Army will be appreciated.
